The History

Heritage buildings were typically constructed before modern seismic standards were introduced and this means they are particularly vulnerable to damage during seismic events. Mitigation strategies aim to enhance their resilience while maintaining their architectural integrity and historical value.

How We Do It

Key techniques include structural retrofitting such as reinforcing walls with steel columns, installing base isolators to reduce ground motion impact, piling and or reinforcing a buildings foundations, adding bracing systems to improve stability, installing tie down rods between roofs and the main building structure and post-tensioning elements.
