What is it

Heritage plastering refers to the specialised techniques used to restore and maintain the plaster work on historic properties. Unlike modern plaster, which often relies on cement-based materials, traditional plastering methods use breathable materials like lime plaster, which help regulate moisture and prevent damage.

Why it matters

Heritage plastering matters because it preserves historical integrity, allows walls to ‘breathe’ reducing the risk of trapped moisture, mould, and decay, and if applied correctly, can provide superior longevity to cement plasters due to its inherent flexibility.
